Owl Smart: A 3rd – Grade Learning Journey

Welcome to Owl Smart: A 3rd Grade Learning Journey!

This course was built especially for students at Sage Crest Elementary in Kennewick, Washington — and for any 3rd grader who wants to get ahead, fill in gaps, and make learning genuinely fun.

Owl Smart covers everything a 3rd grader needs to know across four subjects:

– English Language Arts (ELA) — reading, writing, grammar, and vocabulary
– Mathematics — multiplication, fractions, geometry, and more
– Science — life science, earth science, and physical science
– Social Studies — geography, Washington state history, government, and economics

The course is organized into 20 units and 124 lessons. Each lesson comes with clear explanations, colourful examples, vocabulary, and hands-on activities. Every unit ends with a quiz to check understanding.

This course aligns with Washington State 3rd-grade standards, including the Common Core State Standards for ELA and Math, the Next Generation Science Standards, and the Washington State Since Time Immemorial curriculum, which covers the history, culture, and sovereignty of Washington’s 29 federally recognized tribes.

Who is this course for?

This course is perfect for students who want to get ahead of their class, review and strengthen areas where they feel less confident, explore topics they find fascinating in greater depth, or simply enjoy learning in a fun and engaging way at their own pace.

How to use this course:

Work through the units in order, or jump to any subject or topic you are curious about. Read through the lessons carefully, try the activities in your notebook, and take the quiz at the end of each unit. There is no rush — learning at your own pace is always the best pace.

A note about Since Time Immemorial:

Washington state is the ancestral homeland of 29 federally recognized tribes. Their histories, cultures, and governments are living and vital today. Unit 18 of this course is dedicated to Washington state history and the Since Time Immemorial curriculum. Students are encouraged to approach this material with curiosity, respect, and an open mind.
